Mooresville Arts, as an organization, mostly volunteer-driven, has grown tremendously in the last decade. Looking back to 2010 and where we are now lends much appreciation to the dedication of our volunteer base, and support from our membership, the community and our patrons. Our group is very fortunate to have had the success it has experienced!
To provide a short list of notable accomplishments – in 2014, we gained the support (via the Town of Mooresville) of a part-time Office Manager; in 2013 and in 2017, we hosted the travel exhibit for the American Watercolor Society’s Annual Exhibition; in 2014, we added the Winter Juried Exhibit to our gallery schedule; in 2015, we hosted the Watercolor Society of North Carolina’s Annual Exhibit & Event; since 2017, our Summer Camp program has excelled each subsequent year; in 2017-2018, we renovated our front three galleries; and, in 2018, we raised $50,000 to go towards the renovation project for HVAC for the Warehouse.
That takes care of looking back, so – what’s next?
The aforementioned project for HVAC for the Warehouse is complete; that alone will brings many more possibilities for Mooresville Arts – exhibit space in the Warehouse (year-round!); an onsite area to hold larger art workshops; and, an event space that will create an additional revenue stream for our organization to sustain and further its mission.
Mooresville Arts is primarily supported by volunteers, contributors and members. We would not be in the place we are today if not for the dedication to so many community members! We truly appreciate the time, energy and creativity that has been bestowed upon our group.
Mooresville Arts will continue its mission of being an advocate for the artist and to serve as an artistic and cultural resource for the Mooresville and Lake Norman community. We will continue to offer exciting and competitive exhibit opportunities; we will host dynamic and diverse art classes and workshops; (everyone can be an artist!) we will partner with community entities to bring fun and artsy events to town; thus, Mooresville Arts will remain as a fixture in the community for all ages to experience art and art appreciation.
As we continue to grow, we look forward to what is yet to come for Mooresville Arts – we have accomplished a lot, but the future holds even more possibilities for us. Our hope is that each and every one of you benefit from our programs and efforts.
On behalf of the Board of Directors for Mooresville Arts, I would like to thank you for being a part of this group of loyal members, volunteers and supporters.
Sincerely,
Jessica DeHart, President
