Start the new year off by immersing yourself in traditional Asian painting called Minhwa, aka Korean Folk Art! All are welcome to join in and take a journey through this vibrant and unique style of painting that captures the heart of Korean culture and everyday life.
Minhwa was traditionally created by and for common people, often used to bring luck, happiness, and protection. The art form is rich in symbolism, using bold colors and whimsical imagery to tell stories of nature, animals, and mythical creatures. With the Lunar New Year approaching (January 29th), you will create a piece of art wishing wealth, health or good luck!
Students will explore and create their own painting by using the main mediums, techniques and themes of Minhwa. Whether you're new to Korean folk art, or have some experience, this class will inspire you to engage with this joyful and expressive tradition in your own creative way.

Title: Pastel Painting: Winter Landscape

Create an amazing winter landscape with pastelist, Laurie Basham! During this one day workshop, Laurie will share her landscape pastel painting process and guide you in an exploration of color and intuitive mark-making to create your own winter scene.

~Explore a variety of techniques to experiment with composition and colors on a chosen winter scene photo. Laurie will pre-approve your image or you can use one of her images.
~Create value thumbnails from your image.
~After a technique demonstration, students will make their own value block-in.
~Learn the stages of the painting, developing the lights, darks and midtones.
~Receive personal guidance from Laurie as she circulates the classroom.
~Share and discuss artwork created.

Just in time for Valentine's Day, this workshop will be a fun girl’s day out as you create your own mixed media heart collage! This lovely heart collage will be created on a wood board using different mixed media techniques and materials. The workshop is guided by instructor Heather Burnell.
Heather will show you the process through demonstrations and step-by-step guidance for you to create your own take home collage.
Create the heart collage for yourself or give it as a gift!

Join us this spring at Mooresville Arts for a transformative two-day, hands-on workshop, tailored for intermediate and advanced Lightroom users aiming to create gallery-quality fine art prints.
Over ten immersive hours, you will refine your approach to advanced Lightroom editing, learning how to expertly control image adjustments, selective masking, and precise color grading for professional print quality.
This workshop is designed for highly interactive, hands-on learning. Students will work with instructor-led exercises, refining images in real-time. Each day incorporates live demonstrations followed by individual practice sessions, giving students the chance to apply techniques independently. Discussions and critiques will provide immediate feedback and help students refine their approach to fine art print editing.
By the end of this workshop, students will be able to:
~Prepare images in Lightroom for high-quality print output.
~Apply advanced Lightroom tools, including selective masking and custom color grading.
~Organize a Fine Art Portfolio Drive with print-ready images.

Title: Abstract Oil and Cold Wax Painting

Learn the basics of cold wax and oil techniques in this introductory intensive workshop. Students will explore materials, tools, surfaces and techniques. They will also practice the use of color, composition and experience the expressive potential of layering texture and mark making. Instructor, Janet Visser, will demonstrate mixing with cold wax, use of tools and the color wheel. Students will work on sizes ranging from 8x10-11x14.
Students will learn:

Canvas boards, oil paper,or wood panel (gesso before class)

Oil paints or water soluble oils in a variety of colors plus
black and white for mixing shades and tints.
