About The Artists
Joe Vogan

Joe Vogan is a painter with a style that leans towards abstraction and looser brushwork for subjects often featuring animals, landscapes and portraits. For over twenty years, his art background centered on photography while he pursued a career in the financial services industry. More recently, he has borrowed on the composition and light lessons from those years of photography and is now primarily focused on painting, usually with oils on hard panels. His approach often features bolder color and texture with a goal to make a realistic, but interesting final picture.
A native Floridian, Joe relocated to Charlotte in 2019. Newly retired from corporate life, he is now planning on expanding participation in in-person events and with the local arts community and is a member of Mooresville Arts, the Guild of Charlotte Artists, and the Matthews Art Guild.
Skye Young

Skye Young is an illustrator, arts practitioner, and environmental educator living in Huntersville, North Carolina. With a love of nature and art, she hopes to help her community deepen their understanding of the natural world and foster a sense of belonging through creativity and inquiry. In addition to a BFA from Virginia Commonwealth University, she has a Masters in Scientific Illustration from Hogeschool Zuyd in the Netherlands and a Masters in Conservation and Community Engagement through Miami University of Ohio’s Advanced Inquiry Program.
Throughout her education, career, and many moves, she has explored how art can be used to connect people with nature and help establish a sense of place. Her personal artwork has been displayed domestically and internationally, in both solo and group exhibitions over the last 15 years. Skye works in a variety of media, with a current focus on block printing, which she began experimenting with in 2018. She has worked with all ages in inspiring creativity and earnestly believes that art -- in any of its many forms -- is the best tool with which to connect to people and the world around us. When she’s not making art, Skye enjoys walking her hound dog, watching the birds, and teaching kids about cool bugs.
